This is just my imagination, but even for a prolific artist like Starpoint, they haven't had many hits in Japan, and I have the impression that their popularity isn't particularly high. In addition to their sound, which is sensitive to the trends of the time, the powerful vocals of their lead singer, Renee Diggs, and her superb expressiveness in ballads, I personally consider her to be on par with Belinda Lipscomb of Midnight Star. What do you think? As a side note, their solo work after the group disbanded is still a rare find and can sometimes be seen online.

A 1990 work produced by my man, Teddy Riley. Of course, "I Want You-You Want Me" is pure New Jack Swing, but there's another "hidden masterpiece" on this album. "Step By Step"... you know it from the intro. It has the aura of a masterpiece. Although not written by Teddy, it feels like you're listening to my favorite, Chapter 8. Those who know, know. This is a gem of a ballad that I want to put at the top of my 【100 Songs to Listen to Before You Die】list.
